The B and B Experience

Travel around the United States staying in the popular chain hotels, and you’ll soon notice the many similarities between lodgings.  The rooms are generally furnished alike and the amenities are comparable.  Hotels and motels provide a much needed service for travelers; especially for those on a schedule.

For those travelers whose schedules are less structured and more relaxed, a night or weekend at Hawthorn, A Bed and Breakfast, in historic Independence, Missouri, offers an experience to be remembered.  Our large, well appointed guest rooms, all with private baths, provide guests with comfortable yet elegant furnishings.  The one hundred ten-year old, three-story, seventeen room mansion, with its six original fireplaces represents the amazing craftsmanship and architecture of the early 1900’s.

Breakfast is quite an experience at Hawthorn, A Bed and Breakfast.  Hosts and owners, Wendy and Jim Allen, prepare and serve each morning’s bountiful cuisine to overnight guests.  Today’s hardy fare includes fresh fruits, just-baked muffins, bacon or sausage, omelets filled with savory vegetables, and a generous portion of Jim’s famous breakfast potatoes.   A long-held Vermont family secret ingredient tops off the potatoes.  But if guests ask, Jim happily shares the sweet-tasting secret!

When you make travel plans for our area, be sure you book your stay at Hawthorn, A Bed and Breakfast in Independence, Missouri.  The rooms, the breakfast, everything about your stay will be an experience you won’t soon forget.
